Optimized Local Pass using Importance Sampling
نویسنده
چکیده
Recent approaches to realistic image synthesis split the rendering process into two passes. The first pass calculates an approximate global illumination solution, the second produces an image of high quality (from a user selected view point) using the solution obtained in the first pass by applying the local illumination model to each surface point visible through each pixel. This paper presents two new methods to compute the local illumination quickly. Instead of recalculating form factors and visibilities the information computed by a hierarchical radiosity solution algorithm is reused. The image generation time is reduced significantly by using stochastic methods.

Final Radiosity Gather Step using a Monte Carlo Technique with Optimal Importance Sampling
In this paper, an improved Monte Carlo based technique is presented to perform a per-pixel final gather step, also referred to as a local pass in radiosity computations. Using importance sampling based on the results from the finite-element radiosity computation, we achieve a very high image quality at a much lower cost compared to other common techniques. The theory in this paper examplifies h...
متن کاملConfidence scoring and rejection using multi-pass speech recognition
This paper presents a computationally efficient method for using multiple speech recognizers in a multi-pass framework to improve the rejection performance of an automatic speech recognition system. A set of criteria is proposed, which determine at run time when rescoring using a second pass is expected to improve the rejection performance. The second pass result is used along with a set of fea...
متن کاملOptimal Design RRC Pulse Shape Polyphase FIR Decimation Filter for Multi-Standard Wireless Transceivers
----Pulse Shaping Filters or Root Raised Cosine (RRC) low pass filters emerges as one of the hottest topic in field of Wireless Communication technology. Low pass filters are used for decimation and for interpolation. When decimating, low pass filters are used to reduce the bandwidth of a signal prior to reducing the sampling rate. This is done to minimize aliasing due to the reduction in the s...
متن کاملFirst-pass perfusion CMR with reduced dark-rim artifact and instantaneous image reconstruction using optimized cartesian sampling and apodization
Background Subendocardial dark-rim artifact (DRA) continues to be a major issue that limits the diagnostic performance of first pass perfusion (FPP) CMR. Non-Cartesian approaches such as radial or spiral acquisition have been proposed to minimize DRAs. Among these approaches, those that can operate without the need for breath-holding typically require a time-consuming offline image reconstructi...
متن کاملGlobal Illumination using Photon Maps
This paper presents a two pass global illumination method based on the concept of photon maps. It represents a significant improvement of a previously described approach both with respect to speed, accuracy and versatility. In the first pass two photon maps are created by emitting packets of energy (photons) from the light sources and storing these as they hit surfaces within the scene. We use ...
